Bela/Dean Amnesia fic thingy

Dean was still eyeing her wearily from across the room and Bela couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

She had warned him, this was all his own damn fault. And it wasn’t as though Sam hadn’t been there when he had woken up, told him what had happened and who she was. Personally she thought he was just pissed that he had been stripped of his weapons (a great many of them hidden on his body), when she got to keep hers.

Bela was a lot of things, some of them unflattering and some she was quite proud of, but she certainly wasn’t stupid and no matter how nice he was to look at or how good he was in bed, she would happily shoot him if she thought it necessary. Her fingers had been practically itching for it since they had first met. Dean just brought out that side of her.

Deane glared at her again, shifting in his seat, his eyes darting for different escape roots. Bela stroked her gun lovingly with a smile, her own eyes never leaving his.

He sat up straighter.

“This is your own fault, you know,” She tells him, “I told you not to touch that talisman.”

Dean glared at her some more. Bela grinned wickedly back.

She had warned him after all.

Well, at least I'm not alone in my confusion over curtain fic. And if it is domestic fic, I think it needs a better name. Just saying. And hopefully I did Bonnie and Elena justice. Usually I have Caroline in there as a buffer just in case, so.

Dust in the Wind (Bonnie/Elena and a moment in the Apocolypse)

It wasn’t like this was their first apocalypse, not really. They had been living in one apocalypse after another for years now; they were all just more personal, more close to home, and at the end of a day of watching people getting their hearts torn out they had their own beds to climb into, to pull the covers over their heads and pretend none of it had happened.

Now they just had each other. Their homes piles of ashes (though Elena was responsible for her own home’s destruction herself), their whole town a pile of ashes, mixed with homes and business and the dust of the people they loved.

The cemetery was somehow still standing, cracks in the headstones and crumbling family mausoleums, but still standing. It made Elena laugh at the irony. When she shared the joke with Bonnie, she didn’t laugh, her gaze hardened instead. But Elena thinks someday, years from now when their walking down the street, she’ll laugh too and Elena will know why.

“So where are we going?” Elena asks, watching the scenery pass them by. Landmarks that were no longer standing went sailing by at rapid speeds.

(They were in Caroline’s car, which was probably a mistake because it would only make them remember the third person that was supposed to be there with them, but it had been left standing, perfectly intact, and it had been the most logical choice.)

“Drive until we find a hotel,” Bonnie says from the driver’s seat, her shoulders shrugging, “One that’s been abandoned but is still in good shape.”

“And then?”

“And then we hide underneath the covers until this whole things over.” Bonnie says.

“I thought you didn’t believe in that.” Elena says, memories of better times, simpler times that didn’t seem simple in those moments, coming to the surface.

Mostly she remembers floating feathers and Bonnie’s hand in hers.

“Things change.” Bonnie shrugs.

Elena leans over, takes one of Bonnie’s hands in her own and holds on tight.

“Some things don’t.” She promises.

I don't sleep well alone (pre-Logan/Veronica, set before the series started)

Sometimes she wonders how Logan talks her into these things. How easily he can convince her.

He spins words like Lilly, until it seems inevitable or almost like it was Veronica’s idea in the first place and he was just there cheering her on. He sounds nothing like Duncan who would never encourage this in the first place. Not without Logan and Lilly sitting on his shoulder, whispering in his ear what to do.

“A little alcohol won’t kill you.” He had said.

“You never pay any attention in health class do you?” She had asked and then she had took a swig of the bottle.

It had burned going down and she had coughed. (He hadn’t laughed, but he might as well have, with the expression on his face.)

“Only to the dirty parts,” He replied.

That was a bottle of tequila ago, when Veronica could still feel her cheeks and before she had stripped out of her pink sweater and down to her white tank top.

“Why aren’t you getting drunk with Lilly?” She asks. It had occurred to her before, but she hadn’t had enough liquid courage to actually say it.

Logan pauses, rummaging through his father’s liquor cabinet, and then turns back and smiles. “She’s going through a ‘I-hate-Logan’ phase.” He says.

“Uh-oh, someone’s in tro-u-ble.” Veronica sing songs.

Logan laughs and turns back to the alcohol. He grabs scotch this time and she knows this will not end well. She’s pretty sure she won’t make it home and she’ll end up leaving a babbling message on the machine talking about Lilly and her Logan problems and spending the night at the Kanes.

She’ll probably end up passed out on Logan’s bedroom floor instead.

“I’m always in trouble,” Logan says sitting down in front of her, “But that’s why I called you. You don’t hate anyone.”

“That’s not true.” Veronica says. It comes out very loud. She thinks she might be offended.

“Tell me one person you hate. Name one person.” He grins.

“I…”

Her mind is blank. She blames the alcohol. Stupid alcohol, she thinks, drinking some of the scotch Logan had offered her.

Logan laughs again and she wonders if she said that out loud.

“Deputy Lamb!” She says suddenly, almost falls off the guest house bed, when her arms flail as she tries to emphasize her meaning. Logan’s hands steady her and his eyes dance with amusement and something else she doesn’t know. Sadness maybe. (Deep down, Logan’s sad, she knows that.) Longing maybe, but she doesn’t know what for. Maybe lower alcohol tolerance so he could feel like her.

“Deputy Lamb,” She repeats, “He’s smug and smarmy and a total idiot. And really, a lot of other words I can’t remember right now. But none of them are good.”

“I’m sure they’re not.” Logan nods in a false solemn manner.

“See, I can hate people.” She says. She moves so she’s no longer at the foot of the bed, instead crawling up to the headboard next to him. She grabs one of the many pillows (jeez, how many pillows do rich people really need anyways?) and pulls it to her chest. “I’m not the Pope or anything.”

“You would look funny in the hat.” He says.

She had lowered herself down on the bed, curled up, and was comfortable, though she doesn’t remember doing any of that. She realizes several minutes later that Logan’s voice had come from across from her and he was lying down too.

He’s staring at the ceiling when she opens her eyes and she thought she saw something wrong with the color of his cheek when she looked too close. She almost reached out to touch it, but she stopped herself just in time.

“Why didn’t you call Duncan?” She asks quieter this time.

“I don’t know,” Logan says, “You just…seemed like a better choice.”

Veronica smiles, sinking deeper into the bed. It’s much more comfortable than Logan’s floor but her father was going to be really pissed tomorrow.

She feels Logan’s hand on her cheek, pushing back her long hair, before she drifts off to sleep.

(Her friend needed her, she’ll tell her father tomorrow. I’m sorry, but it was important, she’ll say. I’d do it again, grounding and all, she’ll tell Logan.

None of it will be a lie.)

And yay Dawn! I love it when I get to talk about characters I don't get to talk about a lot.

-How I feel about this character

I LOVE Dawn. I have so much love for her character and the idea of how they integrated her into the story, taking this over used and usually badly done trope and turning it on its head and making it into something so interesting to watch and then continuing to let us watch her grow and see how she fit into the story, how she made her own story on the sidelines. And I just have a lot of Dawn love in me. I’ve recently been searching out good Dawn fic. But yeah, basically it boils down to a lot of Dawn love. I have no idea who my favorite BtVS character is, but Dawn’s definitely on the list.

-All the people I ship romantically with this character

I’ve realized recently, that for all my Dawn love, I don’t have a lot of ships for her. I tend to go more platonic. But I do have a few. Dawn/Spike in a screwed up kind of way (and once she’s older), Dawn/Faith (it could totally be a thing), Dawn/Elena Gilbert crossover (all the parallels man, so many parallels), Dawn/Sam Winchester crossover (the early years for him more so though), and maybe a few more I just can’t think of this moment. I’m usually invested in possible ships for characters I love, but for Dawn, I struggle with finding people that I think fit her just right,

-My non-romantic OTP for this character

Um, Buffy and Dawn is probably my favorite relationship for her on the show in general. But IDK if that totally counts because their sisters, so it’s automatically non-romantic. I also really loved her relationship with Tara and her relationship with Spike which I’m quite happy as a platonic relationship as well.

-My unpopular opinion about this character

I think the fact that I love her character, might fit this just by itself. But other than that, I really kind of hate Dawn/Xander as a ship. It just, it squicks me out. The idea of her crush being something that the monks implanted into her memories and the power that gives him, if that makes sense. I prefer them in a big brother/little sister kind of a way. But I’ll admit to having Xander issues, so that might play into it. (I don’t hate him, I just feel like a lot of his flaws, especially in his treatment to the women around him, don’t always get addressed. All characters should have flaws, but they should be addressed.)

-One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I wish they had explored what her being the Key meant more after S5 and her role in ending the world was over. Because yes, that threat had ended, but she was still a bundle of energy made into the shape of a girl and there was just so much potential there. I would have loved to see something even as simple as Bad!Willow attempting to use her powers against her and the energy protecting her. It could have come up again when facing the First too, because Dawn for as young as she is on the outside, is ancient on the inside and I would have liked to have seen the two of them meet and how it would have gone down. Maybe the First promising her a way to let that power out without losing herself (Dawn), to become something more than just a girl again. And then the struggle of her wanting it but then knowing that nothing good could come from the First. IDK, those are just random ideas. All I know really is that I wish they had spent some more time on her key-ness.

-Something about them I consider true, even though it's only my head.

The summer after Buffy died, Dawn buried herself in books and research and trying to learn as much about the supernatural world as she could (hence her knowing things like Sumerian), in the hopes that the knowledge would keep her from losing anyone else she loved again.

Also, she still sometimes shoplifts and steals. It’s a habit that hasn’t completely disappeared.

aw, my poor baby, should I send some capable people over to fight your demons away? just so you know the winchesters, the smallville's kickass ladies, oliver, lex, buffy, the fang gang, caroline, stefan, nikita, alex, michael, the avengers, and all those other people who kick ass totally listen to me and do what I tell them to do. ;)

And I like the first meme, and the first one is just screaming for my otp of all otps, but I will resist!

Also, this turned into a thing, probably WAY longer than the meme would allow. I think I broke the rules. But if you look at the comments above, I did that before too. It's not really finished or anything its just like ficlet or fic-lite or maybe almost a fic, IDK. Its a thing, that hopefully you like. Either way, sorry. My muse is easily confused and I ramble a lot in life and that somehow translates over into my writing. Also, have I mentioned how much I love the idea of Dawn/Amy? I never would have though of it on my own, but OH THE PERFECTNESS.

maybe we've met before (Dawn/Amy, post Buffy, post the Doctor for Amy but not canon compliant in that sense)

They met in England, though Amy is always telling her how much better everything is in Scotland. Dawn was pouring over ancient texts, translating things that no one needed at the moment but would someday. (That was her life now.) Amy was picking at a muffin and nursing a cold cup of tea and staring off in her direction.

She wasn’t purposefully staring at Dawn, she always tells her, just staring. But there was something about Dawn she thinks, something that drew her in.

They kept coming back to the same café, doing the same things, over and over again. Dawn would notice the girl with the hair like fire and Amy would notice the girl with blue eyes, that when the light hit them just right, turned green.

One day the red head plopped down across from girl with chestnut hair, a cup of coffee she crinkled her nose at in one hand, and her own tea in her other. “I’m Amy.”

“Dawn.” She says slowly.

Amy extends the cup of coffee. It’s just like Dawn likes it and she raises an eyebrow.

“I asked the people inside,” Amy shrugs, “So, what exactly are you doing?”

She looks around at all the old, huge, dusty books, and Dawn sighs. “Translating dead languages.”

“You’re an odd one.” Amy laughs, “I like you.”

Dawn doesn’t know when their relationship began or even why, but she remembers that moment always.

(Dawn who has seen the end of the world too many times. Dawn who had seen so many many things, but screams at Amy’s driving.

Wasn’t it enough they were already on the wrong side of the road?)

Amy laughs, but slows down anyways.

She’s nice that way. Most of the time.

Amy doesn’t take her to her home town.

“Bad memories,” Is all she says and Dawn doesn’t ask questions.

“At least you have a home to go home to if you ever decide you want to.” Dawn says instead.

“What and you don’t?”

“It’s kind of a…crater.” Dawn says. It rolls of the tongue easily, it’s not the first time she said it before. It’s the people’s reactions that take the adjusting too.

Amy laughs (she’s always laughing, like she feels like someone needs to be), “I knew there was a reason I liked you.”

She takes Dawn to all the sights. Landmarks mixed in with pubs and hills that don’t have any meaning to anyone, even Amy herself. They lay in the grass and their hands meet like they do under the covers in their hotel rooms at night.

“There’s something special about you, isn’t there?” Amy asks.

“Isn’t there supposed to be something special about everyone?” Dawn deflects.

“Yes. But there isn’t.” Amy says, “That’s just what your parents say. You know when you have them.”

(Two girls, with memories rewritten in their heads. Changed and altered to someone else’s liking. A crack where the light gets in, leaking into Amy’s body and bleeding out of Dawn’s.

Is it any wonder they found each other?)

“I think you’re special.” Dawn says, her hand clinging tighter.

“Well of course I am.” Amy says, “I’m the girl who—I’m a girl capable of things you can’t even imagine. That no one can. I can bring a person, a man, back to life just by wanting it enough.”

Most people wouldn’t believe her. Dawn does.

“But you’re special too.” Amy turns to look at her, “You’re something…You’re something new and old all in one, aren’t you?”

“Does it matter?” Dawn asks.

“Only if it matters to you.”

After Scotland they go to California.

Dawn shows her the crater where she used to live (“It didn’t always look like that. We had a mall.”), shows her the beach and the winery she used to drive by and no one would ever let her set foot in because she was Dawnie and she was too young. Always too young and too old in one.

She doesn’t know yet how Amy can see that. She’s not sure she cares.

“I think I like it here.” Amy says, the two of them laying in the sand, their hands still entwined.

“Only think?” Dawn laughs, “I thought you knew everything.”

“Well, I do.” Amy says with a grin, “But no one likes a show off.”

My body is ready. I need this to be a thing.

Shouldn't it though? It should definitely be a thing. I just finished power watching S7 and I realized I was disappointed by the lack of The First/Dawn interaction and it just, wouldn't this have been an awesome way to correct that? Even if it was just an episode. Even if it was a lie, used to get Dawn on her side or serve as a distraction to Buffy and the crew. I would have loved everything about it. (Though I'd prefer if it was true and The First did have the power/knowledge to draw out that side of her, because, well. Again. It needs be a thing.)

But yay! I'm glad I'm not alone in this. There was just so many places they could have gone with it, never having to make her more powerful than Buffy (since she's the hero of the story) but still reminding her that she is this powerful thing trapped within a teenage girl.

Again bookmarking both of these to read later. I'm excited. (Though I have limited Rose knowledge, I started watching DW during the Amy Pond years, so I only knows what the internet tells me about the previous companions and Doctors. The plan is to go back and watch them someday.)

OH YAY! I'M SOOOO GLAD YOU LIKE IT. I got so excited by the idea, but you gave these two intimidating characters to try to write (Amy especially for me) so I was worried it would come out nothing like you wanted.

And you picked out my favorite part of the fic, the part where it just clicked for of course they would find each other, they were so similar in so many ways and so different in others, but they would have that connection. And of course, Amy was attracted to ancient people masquerading as something younger. And I just, have I said how much you made me love this ship? Because you did and all future thoughts on them will be on your shoulders.

Thank you! I'm happy to let you send them my way. If nothing else it would be a welcome distraction. (Things are mostly better for the original source of this post, but then other things happened, and it got worse in other ways, and then you know those migraines that always have the best of timing came to just make everything better.) But I'll get over it all, and I appreciate the sentiment. And all the nice messages that people have left for me. Plus the added bonus of doing a meme to distract me from it all.

I love all your choices, even the curtain one, and I'll get to them. But I need time to ruminate on ideas. So instead, you get the ficlet that you didn't technically ask for, but we both know you wanted. XD

Chloe/Dean, road trip (though it's not an AU really, because there whole life is a road trip basically.)

“I still don’t know why we couldn’t have just taken my car.” Dean grumbled from the passenger feet. His knees were shoved up, even with the seat all the way back, and when they hit a bump, he sometimes hit his head on the ceiling.

Chloe could only imagine what would have happened if it had been Sam forced into the car with her.

“Because,” Chloe emphasized, “You’re kind of a mass murderer at the moment. Sam too.”

“I am not a mass murderer.” Dean said shoving a finger in her direction.

“Well, I know that and you now that, but you and your face and your car are all over the news. And no matter how many times you change your license plates, eventually someone is going to realize who it is living in the hotel room next to them and call 911.”

Chloe swore she had explained this to him plenty of times before, enough to get through his thick skull. Eternal optimism, who knew she had it?

“Still.” Dean said, “You need more room in this thing.”

“All extra space is used up hiding weapons and electronics,” Chloe rolled her eyes, “And they were all here before you. So get over it, princess.”

“Fine,” He huffed, such a little boy. She hoped Bobby wasn’t getting this kind of behavior from Sam, as it was, Dean was already possibly going to end up shot. They didn’t need both Winchesters out of commission when they finally got to the hunt.

They stopped at a red light and Dean’s hand reached out to fiddle with the radio, find some classic rock station she was sure.

She put her hand over his and smiled sweetly, “Driver picks the music; shotgun shuts his cake hole.”

His mouth dropped and she turned back to the road, grinning.

Oh, sorry to hear that, life sucks that way that one bad thing very rarely comes alone, here's hoping that things start to look better for you healthwise and otherwise very soon.

And of course I will NEVER say no to some Chlean! And I love this! Poor Dean cramped up in a car that's two sizes too small for him, though of course Chloe is right, better him than Sam in Chloe's later seasons cars, I always found it kinda sad that they got rid off her mustang, 'cuz I can totally picture Chloe as a character-car gal. And since you incorporated Dean's taste in music I would like to know for the character meme if you maybe have a headcanon for Chloe's taste in music, I mean we know that back in season one of her favorite songs was 'Perfect memory', alternative rock, but personally I'm not inclined to give it too much weight since 1) it's her favorite from her teen years and at least my taste in music changed since my teenage years, and 2) the fact that it's a Remy Zero song and it having being chosen more for the show than the character, imo. Anyway, now thinking about it I guess I probably would consider Chloe a mood listener, you know someone who listens to all kinds of music, and what to at any given time depends on the mood she's in or what she's doing. But I also once again really like her reasoning for the various songs she listens to in Special Projects.

And hah! I know that feeling that's how my Chloe/Dean muse feels when I get ideas for other pairings, or fanarts for other pairings come out better than the Chloe/Dean stuff. :/ Muses are such emotional beings.
Also, I can't wait for the rest. :D

There’s a flash of light and then sudden darkness that burns brighter than the light and pressure all around her.

That’s the last thing she remembers before she hits the cave walls and passes out.

The next thing she is aware of is the sound of Lex’s voice. It’s distant at first, like he was calling out to her from miles away, but then it came closer and closer until she could tell even with her eyes closed, he was right in front of her.

His hand was gently pressed against her face, she realized a few minutes later, warm almost hot, and that eased her out of the fog she had been lost in more than anything else.

“Lex?” She asks, her eyes blinking open.

She was right; he was hovering over her, his hand still on her cheek as he tried to wake her up completely.

“Chloe, what happened?”

She groaned taking in the sights of fallen rocks around them and the memories of how they had gotten there coming back to her.

“There was a meteor shower.” Chloe tells him.

“Yes, I know that—what happened after that?”

Well, he had dragged her caveman style into actual caves and started demanding answers from her. But she didn’t think that was the answer he was looking for.

“I think I hit my head.” She says, her arm slowly going up to the back of her head. Her limbs were still moving a little slowly but for the most part she seemed alright. Nothing broken, none of the normal signs of concussion.

(There was a slight gash on Lex’s head, smearing blood across his forehead, and maybe she should feel bad.

She didn’t.)

There was no blood when she looks at her hands and Lex looked her over again as well. “You seem fine.” He tells her.

Glancing over at had once been the opening of the caves, Chloe laughs. “I don’t think either of us are fine.”

The rocks had come tumbling in. And down. And maybe from underneath for all Chloe knew. All she knew for sure was that the entrance to the caves was now a wall of rocks.

She distantly wondered if there were any meteor rocks mixed in there, new or old, if this would give her and Lex some kind of weird combined power. She almost giggled at the thought and started to wonder about her conclusion about not having a concussion.

She watched silently as Lex tried to clear out some of the rocks, leaving her alone for the time being. He had a slight opening that let in air and sunlight but whenever he moved too many rocks more always seemed to keep tumbling in to take their place. But they still had the opening, if anyone came looking for them.

(Chloe had faith in Lois.

Lex didn’t.)

Eventually Lex got too tired and came to rest beside her. Chloe had actually encouraged it, despite everything, because she really didn’t want him to die. She had attempted to get up in the beginning, to help, because God knows she didn’t want to be stuck in their either, but she still felt too drained. Like the light that had hit her had taken part of her with it.

“You have to rest,” Chloe tells Lex as he settles beside her, “Your hit your head, you shouldn’t be moving around this much anyways. And if you pass out, I won’t be any help.”

“Hit my head?” Lex asks turning to look at her, “That’s not how I remember it. I remember you pushing me into one of these walls.”

“I was scared,” Chloe says looking away from him, “You dragged me here in a freaking meteor shower, you were shouting—If you’re looking for an apology, you’re not going to get one.”

“You don’t get scared, Chloe.” Lex says, “You get even; there’s a big difference.”

There was silence after it, but it seemed louder than anything that came before.
