Holiday Wishlist

Step One:

Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:

Surf around your friends-list (or wish_list) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes your “trash” is another's treasure.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

MY WISH LIST:
1. If anyone out there is feeling extremely generous, I’d love more userpics (mine are about to/have already expired depending on when you’re reading this). I love icons to an unhealthy level and am constantly changing and playing with them. And right now I don’t have the money to renew them. I don’t really expect this one, but it is a wish list for a reason, so I thought I’d throw it out there. XD

2. Caroline Forbes is currently my favorite character on tv, so I’d love some fic for her. Caroline centric fic would be amazing, but I’ll happily take ship centric as well. I ship Caroline with basically everyone, but I love obscure ships (aka doomed ships), so I’d love to see some of that. (Fic recs are also welcome.)

3. I’d love a new wallpaper for my computer, 1280x800. My fandoms are listed on my profile, I’ll happily take whatever anyone would be willing to make for me. Links to already made wallpapers too.

4. I have three ideas for videos I’d love to see, but can’t make myself. Chloe/Dean crossover (Smallville/Supernatural) video to the Snow Patrol Song “Make This Go On Forever”. And Caroline Forbes vid to Pink’s “Sober” emphasizing her struggles with herself and who she is and not just her becoming a vampire. (There are a couple vids already out there, but that’s what they focus on.) An Elena Gilbert video set to Florence and the Machine “What the Water Gave Me”, its a perfect song for her and I’d love love love to see a character study for it.

5. I’m currently working my way through The West Wing and loving it. (I’m currently in mid season five.) I’d love some fic recs for when I’m done and can read it with it out fear of being spoiled. All characters or ships, I’m open to your recommendations.

6. Anything in the TVD fandom having to do with the doppelganger storyline. I'm a little in love with it. Meta, vids, fics, AUs and role reversals. (I'm completely intrigued with the idea of what would have happened if Elena had been the first doppelganger and Katherine the second.)

7. Copying this from last year, spread the fandom love. Recently I’ve seen lots of comments about how fandoms are being negative and becoming less fun for people, so spread the love. Talk about what you love about your favorite shows or movies, don’t talk about the things you don’t like. Spread the love, give people hugs, and just be happy! Also I’d love to see more positive things about female characters. There are so many amazing female characters out there, let’s celebrate that.

You're so sweet, thank you! Ummmm....I'm not sure if I have anythng specific in mind, I just love the subject in general. Maybe somethng exploring how the two of them took their situation of no power and made themselves powerful, if that makes sense. I guess the control they demanded being the idea. But I'd happily take anythng you'd be willing to give me. XD

All right then, I'll try to figure something out :). I asked, because I love writing about doppelgangers, and I'd gladly do some analysis, but I don't have any specific idea, so I could use some sort of a topic from you. Methods of gaining power sound like a good topic, so if this is what you're interested in, I'm game :). It's particularly fascinating how vampirism for Katherine was a way of gaining power, while for Elena it was a tragedy. But when Elena eventually became a vampire, she found a way to use it to gain power. I'd argue that the main difference between them is that Katherine plays alone (she can't count on anyone, but at the same time she doesn't have to worry about anyone), while Elena has a strong sense of being a part of a group. So Katherine needs leverage, needs power that would help her win despite not having any group support, while Elena can count on other people, but she also needs to establish her position and gain power within the group.

I totally agree. I think its so interesting to see how Katherine and Elena were put in to such similiar, if not often the same situation, but how different it was for each of them. Becoming a vampire was a choice for Katherine from beginning to end, she was pushed into it yes, but she was the one who ultimately made the decision to turn. Elena got the choice taken away from her, she was supposed to die but she didn't and she had to figure out what to do with it. And yes, I love that is one of the big differences. Katherine chooses to remain unattached because life experiene has taught her that loving is a weakness, that connections beyond a certain level can only hurt her. Its so interesting to see how she went from the girl who didn't believe that Elijah didn't himself believe in love, to thinking of love as most of all a weakness. Elena sees the power in what a group who loves and supports her can hold both for herself and for everyone in her group, sees how strong those connections can be. Such similiar situations, but such different responses. And I love that.

Question, how much is for number 1 to happen. I only have basic account, not sure how it works lol Oh on the videos, is there anything else you like. If I don't do the other, because the ones you asked for I haven't really seen, besides Smallville. And not much good at fanfic or anything. I can do icons, but that's about it. And I like to do something.

You're so sweet to consider doing anything, thank you. The prices are in the shop which is listed on the tabs when you go to the home page, there will be a link there on buying extra userpics. It ranges anywhere from $2-10 for the least amount of icons, depending on how many months. Or that's the pricing if you do them yourself at least, I'm not sure if it changes if you're buying for someone else. Thank you again, for even considering it. Buying anythng on LJ is kind of confusing imo.

Well I have a strong love of Smallville, especially Chloe, so a character study of her would make me super happy as well. (Anything Florence and the Machince would be amazing but I'm not too picky on song choices so if you do decide to make one feel free to go wild. XD) Or I would gladly take icons as well, like I said I love icons and have recently been lacking in the SV icon department.

CHLOE/DEAN VID WISH!!!! *jumps on that one like a crazy person* And no, I so won't be procrastinating on all my other vids with it. :D Nope. What's 'The West Wing' about? Also, I'm sure you don't mind if I happen to come up with some random other Winchullivan stuff, right? Right. Like I need a reason. :D

OH YAY!!!!! I'm so excited to see it, you know how much I love your vids. Or you should anyways, because I do. And I've been wanting to see a Chlean vid for that song for a long time. XD You're so nice to do it.

West Wing is about, well the West Wing of the White House. It follows the President and his senior advisors and some other people involved in the white house and their jobs and relationships. That sounds kind of boring explained like that, but its actually really amazing and I love like all the characters, which is rare for me. Really its a show about the characters in my opinion. And I mean it is politcal, but not to the point where I'm bored or feeling like their lecturing me. My sister talked me into watching it because of my Dule Hill love (Gus from Psych if you watch that) and I think its been the best tv recommendation she's ever given me. (We tend to either love the same shows or hate/have no interest the other's shows, there are very little inbetween.)

LOL, like I would ever say no to more Winchullivan stuff? I don't think I'm capable of it. Feel free to go Winchullivan crazy and then blame it on me. ;)

I hope you don't mind if I use some manips I already used, would hopefully speed up the process of me making the vid. :D Though, knowing me and my hate of doing anything unoriginal, most of 'em will be new scene combinations. I don't seem to be able to make it easy for my creative brain.

So, a grown up show, I should check it out, maybe over Christmas break. :)

LOL, yeah grown up show is probably a good way to describe it. Though lots of humor in it to keep it light. You should, then we can fangirl over it together.
