xoverland “freedom” drabble challenge. Set pre-Smallville canon.
“Mind if I join you?”
He sat down across from her without permission, without waiting for any type of response. If he had she would have told him no. She didn’t want to deal with anyone, not today.
“Actually yes.” She said glaring at the man in front of her.
The new substitute had taken more of a liking to her than she was comfortable with. Most of the other kids seemed to like him, but Tess couldn’t help but think there was something off with him. He smirked instead of smiling, his eyes lingered when they shouldn’t have, and he seemed to know far too much about what was going on for only having been there two day.
“That looks like it hurts.” He said, his eyes going to her bruised wrist.
“It’s fine.” Tess said, pulling her sleeve down.
The bruises were fairly common, the other teachers had stopped asking questions a long time ago.
“What would happen if I told you I could take all your problems away? Make him go away?”
“I wouldn’t believe you.”
“But if I could. What would you give me?”
“Are you saying you’ll off my bastard of a father if I sleep with you?” She asked, her eyebrows raised.
“Not quite. I require a higher cost..”
His eyes flashed red and for a second she thought she had imagined it. But the way he was smirking at her told her he wasn’t.
“Tell me Tess, how much is your freedom worth to you?”
