fic: bound to happen sometime

title: bound to happen sometime
fandom: ncis: la
pairing: kensi/deeks
word count: 330 (short but sweet hopefully, but definitely more than three sentences. ;D
AN: for[livejournal.com profile] purple_moon123 for the prompt kensi/deeks, first kiss for my writing meme. this is my first time publishing ncis:la fic, so I hope it isn't horrible and you like it. also you can consider this S2 canon or AU, its completely up to you.

Their first kiss happens undercover, spur of the moment, Kensi’s lips covering Deeks, connecting like they never have before.

(Connecting like lighting or fireworks, only fireworks don’t connect with anything, and their minds are just confused.

It always happens the first time.

It happens when they feel something they shouldn’t, but always knew they would.)

It’s not supposed to mean anything of course. The two of them are undercover.

Kensi has been part of this rodeo before and knows Deeks has as well. It’s a lie, they’re playing pretend, they are different people than who they are, they have become someone (both of them) new.

They are not Kensi and Deeks.

They are not partners.

They are not NCIS Agents or LAPD Detectives.

They are a young couple in love, and young couples in love kiss, lay together in bed with their warm hands wrapped around each other, they touch each other with a tenderness that other people are not allowed too.

They are in love and they are not in love.

They are real and they are a lie.

But they are still Kensi and Deeks, no matter what their cover names are, and when Kensi’s lips press against Deeks, it doesn’t feel like it has all those times before. With enemies, with fellow agents, even with other partners.

There’s no coldness to it, no falseness, no pretending.

There is just Kensi and Deeks, their lips pressed together, molding together, and a feeling of being whole, a feeling of something snapping into place.

There is just Kensi and Deeks.

(Kensi wishes sometimes she could forget that, thinks it might make life easier.

Deeks thinks about it more than he’ll ever admit, but he’ll never bring it up out loud.

Some things stay between partners.

Some things stay between them and their own minds and no one knows.

It’s better that way.

Or at least that’s what someone says.)

The first time they kiss they are undercover, but still, something changes.
