The first character I fell in love with: Yes, obviously Caroline. It helped that she reminded me, as I mentioned above, of Cordelia from the get go. Plus, of course all the reasons you mentioned. I also have a soft spot for characters whose every day problems tend to get dismissed or smiled upon by the other characters due to them not being as severe as the ones from the other characters like family deaths or not so normal origins. I could go on about this but I have to consider the character limit, so I'll stop for now.
I don't think I have a 'baby' per se, not anymore at least. It used to be Caroline, but the too heavy focus on Caroline/Tyler in season 3?, I think it was season 3, put a huge damper on my Caroline love, meanwhile my love for Stefan grew. So, now I guess they're the two characters that come the closest to it, while not quite occupying it fully.
Lol, I actually don't really understand a lot of the characters anymore, for differing reasons, unless I fanwank and you only can fanwank so much before it becomes a bit tiresome. But yeah, I didn't quite get Enzo either, I guess mostly because he seems like the typical filler character/plot device character. (And yes, I've seen the whole season, I know Stefan was killed and came back and that Damon and Bonnie got sucked away into wherever.)
Well, you know the CW's ultimate goal is to give us all complexes about our appearance. :/ I think for most attractive female I would actually go with Rebekah/Claire, though like you said they're all gorgeous. And for most attractive male, yeah, forget it, I can't pick, none of them really got under my skin. Though in season 1 I would probably have said Damon but Stefan has the better body. :P Everything considered, now I would probably pick the Mikaelsons. So, I guess I would pick the Mikaelsons as the most attractive family.
Personally, I think it's not even a question that they've ruined Damon the most. Like you I loved him in season 1, he was my favorite male character, and now I'm just blah.
I think TVD is another show where the funerals/aftermath usually gets me more than the actual deaths.
Skipping the rest 'cuz my brain isn't fully functional today, except for the favs:
Caroline, Stefan, Bonnie, Liz (and yes, Rebekah)
As for the least favorite characters, dare I quote Stefan for you? "Hurt her again and I will kill you!" (my mind going straight to "Don't you ever come at me through Cordelia ever again. You play that card a second time and I'll kill you."), as for me I don't really have an answer except I disliked pretty much all the characters at one point or another. :/
